I know that the Pi Zero isn’t compatible with iOT Core because it uses a different chip, but does anyone know in a future build if Zero will be supported?

I bought a Pi Zero and experienced my first rainbow screen of death better than blue I suppose:. No chance. Please choose one of the platforms from WindowsOnDevices. I have flashed the microSD card and am trying to boot up the first time. After minutes, the device is still not recognized. Is the first boot going to take “like forever” since its a single core, not a quad core?

To log in, use ” Administrator ” for the username, along with the password you specified during the setup process. Device Portal lets you perform a variety of management tasks, such as changing your password, setting the time on the remote device and monitoring the Pi’s performance and resource usage. It also lets you deploy your applications to the device: to do so, expand the Apps section in the sidebar and click ” Apps manager “, then click ” Choose file ” to upload a package from your desktop.

Microsoft maintains extensive documentation for developing IoT apps using Visual Studio. Often, though, the best way to learn is to pick apart somebody else’s code, so it’s also created a repository of samples on GitHub.

From the Dashboard it’s also possible to access the Pi’s file system and run commands on it directly. Confirm that you’re happy for Windows to make changes to your PC, then enter your login details. You should now see a PowerShell prompt that works exactly as if you were typing directly into the Raspberry Pi. For remote PowerShell access, make sure your Raspberry Pi is registered as a trusted device.
